Not that far wayback actually. My first computer was an RCA 1802 Cosmic VIP in
1978. I broke it by 1979 (should have used tri-states but didn't know at the
time.) I was banished to Iceland for a year without my family in 1990. One of
the things I took with me was parts (that were sitting in a parts bin drawer for
years) to build an 1802 computer.
