exactly. problem no 1 for all these vst things is the crummy way they can be
controlled with the mouse. turning miniature virtual knobs, pulling a
miniscule envelope window on the fm7.. aaagh! having a dedicated,
customizable interface per synth will make it just like having a hardware
synth.
the added benefit would be that a studio would look like a proper studio
again, with lots of knobs and machines, instead of a laptop and a small
digital mixer on the dinner table..;-)
the only other solution i can think of, would be installing a large touch
screen as a second monitor on your pc, and running the vst synth on it. like
those touch screen ticket machines in public transport. the roland v-synth
has a large screen that works surprisingly well. but we'd be talking 15 or
17 inch here.
