Anytime you quantize something, you add quantization noise. The advantage of
24 bits is that it adds less quantization noise to the analog pathway, which
is much quieter than existing digital systems.

Typical noise floor for a TL074 is around 20 dB below the self noise of a 24
bit converter. Or 60 dB below a 16 bit converter.
