[sdiy] Audio (and synth) DIY printed magazine idea

I realy don't know a lot about this, and wont pretend to, but...

30k seems a lot.  Im a member of only one club that sends out a pretty
comprehensive quarterly magazine, and the membership is way less then 30k.
The club has a good few years history, so can be thought of as stable, has
little other funding, except for the £15 p/a user subscriptions, and
produces a colour magazine.

If your talking of it as a subscription based magazine for, and by,
enthusiasts, then surely the only costs that need to be covered are those of
printing and distribution  Is it realy the case that people would be
expecting to be paid as writers for something like this?  Ahh, but then
maybe im wrongly assuming a non-profit organisation.  I can see that to
support profit a reader base must have to be way larger...

Would you have interest in a non-profit organisation in that case, as i
would suspect that that would have quite a bit of interest?
