you bunch of old hippies out here! time has passed on since 1975..;-)

here are some essentials from my list. with some i won't mention album
titles, you'll have to do some research yourself..;-)

'classic':

giorgio moroder- from here to eternity lp and some early soundtracks
Space- Space (french synth disco)
anything by YMO
cybotron compilation

'modern':

pick up compilations. a loto f artists have their own labels and do these
every once in a while. certainly classic would be the ones from derrick may
on transmat and juan atkins (model500, cybotron). certainly early
underground resistance, later jeff mills. check his soundtrack for
Metropolis.
Carl Craig and Recloose, both on Craig's label.
Europe: germany is where it's happening. labels like Kompakt, Playhouse,
basic channel and chain reaction have all done cd's. so does mille plateaux
for more experimental stuff. in france, i'm a big fan or Air. their 2nd
album was a commercial flop, but a treat if you're into weird sounds and
voices. here in holland all the labels around Clone are starting to put out
cd's, also more experimental thingsl ike Funckarma.
in england it's warp and rephlex and skam as good labels. in the US, there
are also guys cutting up things in protools, like matmos and dntel.

i could go on and on.. ;-) then again, most good dance music is still
released on vinyl, and you requested cd's..
