  I have an old MOD-EMUP which probably operates in a similar fashion.  
What you want to do is select "buffer to PC" so that instead of using the 
limited 8086 (real-mode 640K) RAM, it caches the binfile to disk.  I had 
similar problems trying to use RAM buffers for parts larger than 128K.
