I've personally not been too impressed with the Bose speakers that I've
seen. I think they cost far too much, considering the level of performance
they provide. (Some people would probably say that I'm being far too nice
with that comment.)
On the other hand, you can purchase 1-Ohm triangular speakers from
third-party sources, which are sold as replacements for those unusual
triangular Bose drivers. They're probably sold for a lot less than what
Bose charges, since they are manufactured by another company as a
replacement driver. With enough drivers, the bass response of the array
might actually be decent, especially compared to the response of a single
driver.
If one were building a sphere covered in speakers, that triangular shape
would look really nice. Your spherical array would resemble a geodesic dome.
Dare I call it a Bucky-Bose ? :)
