Errr....2N3055 is a TO-3 :)
Here is a list off the top of my head:
TO-92: plastic small-signal transistors like 2N3904, etc. Most common.
TO-220: most common for larger plastic/metal voltage regulators, like 7812s.
TO-3: standard metal power transistors (2 leads, and the case is the other lead!)
TO-5: older, larger signal transistors. Don't see these in stuff made after 1985 unless it's
military
TO-18: smaller, more popular metal can. Still see these in specialty parts, like dual FETs
DO-41: standard diode case
SOT-23: standard 3-lead surface mount transistor
