[sdiy] Burr Brown UAF42 Universal Active Filter?

Hi gang,
I was perusing TI's site and stumbled across this chip. I know state variable filters are fairly easy, but this chip has integral 1000 pf caps that are trimmed to +/-0.5% (dang!! - that's MOTM territory =0). Looks to me that you could slap a couple of VTL5C3's (or your favorite variable resistor of choice), a control circuit on it, and possibly a resonance loop, stick a fork in it, and it's done.......or am I missing something?
Has anyone tried this chip?
