[sdiy] PCB design advice

Here are the design rules I use for my PC boards:

Signal Traces: 12 mils
Power Traces:   50 mils

spacing:12 mils
Via Size: 62 mils, 36 mil hole
Nominal Pad size: 62 mil, 36 mil hole

Pretty much any PC board house can handle this (generally called 12 and 
12).  Also, using these design rules I can pretty much route any board even 
with a high density of through hole parts.

Design rules will vary depending on requirements.  If you try to use the 
above with surface mount, good luck...
