[sdiy] PCB design advice

Hello all,
While designing several new modules for the ASM-1 I'm doubting the
correctness of the design. 
There are probably lots of things I should mention at, but I don't know them
(like thickness of segments, distances, overal component placement. etc..).
So my question is: could anyone maby tell if if there is any collection of
tips on designing proper (synth) PCB's out there? I would be much gratefull.
