I just use one of those cheapo hot-air paint strippers. They may cost
a bit more than a hair dryer (as if I'd ever price out a hair dryer,
not having need for one) but they get good 'n' hot quickly, and to
me it seems a little safer for use in the workshop.

Oh, and it's useful for stripping paint, too.
