Hey all Ive got a few cr-8000 drum machines with one of them having 100% dead switches! I have been experimenting with fixing them.It seems to be the rubber/carbon contact that has gone. I have had success with a kind of bodge job but works wekk it seems (how long for I do not know) by super glueing a peice of aluminium foil to the rubber contact. This gives a connection easily. I have also purchased some conductive paint. The silver type, this is drying at the moment, It hasnt dried for longer than 2 hours at most . It seems dryish but dosent seem to conduct yet (I havent reassembled the switch but checked with a multimeter) I presume this stuff really works and it is just that I have to wait 24 hours for it to dry (this is in the instructions but it dosent say it wouldnt conduct before...) I guess I am just impatient and probaly wasting peoples time writing such an email . Buuuuuut any advise on whether this is the case or not would be great.
Or anyone knowing of a source for replacement switches... not from the guy on ebay who charges £3 a switch... would be excellent too.
phew....
