Which again only shows what schematic symbols in a schematic as well as the
schematic itself is all about, it's just a schematic illustration of which
components should be wired up with which and how. Originally the schematic
was just a simplified illustration of how it was actually placed and wired,
then placement became less important. Just look at stuff like resistors,
inductors, capacitors, diodes etc. their schematic symbols is nothing than a
simplified drawing of their original physical representation. The arrow of the
diode is a fairly good representation of the original point-diodes for
instance.
