Sorry, but I would strongly recommend not getting that one.  A reviewer on 
Amazon called it the worst technical book he has ever seen. I can't think 
of any worse myself.  I found it almost impossible to learn from.  The 
material is presented in an arbitrary sequence that essentially assumes you 
know a *lot* about the PICs already.  It is full of ambiguities and errors, 
evidence of hasty preperation, etc.

My recommendation is to just use the Microchip documentation.  It is very 
clearly and carefully written.

I also like the book "Design with PIC Microcontrollers" byJohn 
Peatman.  This is more on an intermediate level.
