All started with a Philips transistor experimenters kit (featuring the
BC107) my brother got me for Christmas around 1973. Built lots of
hobby book one and two-transistor receivers and transmitters. First
bonafide music project was Don Lancasters "Psych-Tone" (hobby version of
Triadex Muse). Didn't have all the specified chips (RTL?) but got it
going with a mixture of TTL (from locak Radio Shack) and CMOS. Still
have the 1970 RCA COSMOS manual. Afterwards (as with many) the Paia 2720
and Don Lancaster music modules were a major source of inspiration. In
1979 built a 37-note (a whole 3 octaves!) polysynth with Paia keyboard
and MK50240 TOG chip with 6 homemade voice cards featuring individual
envelopes and PWM for each key.
