I too had the Philips EE20xx series when I was way too
young. Sometimes the projects worked, but most of the time
they didn't. Now I think one of the transistors was probably
bad, but I never figured that out at the time.
My first synth-DIY project was with the C64, when I hacked a
program called funky drummer, wrote a new main loop that
polled the joystick port, and connected 5 pads there that
trigged the sampled drum sounds when struck by a aluminum
tip drum stick.
But it wasn't until recently, when I got a broken SH-1000
from a friend, that I realized this was my new mission in
life! After I fixed the SH-1000, I have built two synths
from scratch, one good with a DCO and one not-so-good with a
VCO (based on Renés 4069 VCO BTW). It just never stops
drifting...
