My first electronic music "project" was when I was a teenager I had been
playing with a UJT oscillator and thought it might be cool to connect my
electric guitar to it. I don't remember exactly how I connected it, but
the UJT oscillator would synchronize to either the fundamental or a strong
harmonic while the guitar signal was fairly strong. I didn't know squat
about electronics (compared to know when I don't know diddly) so I didn't
do anything else with it, such as gating it.
Then I got into radio frequency stuff, then computers in a big way and
several years ago I found this list and built my first FatMan (kit). Then
I started going crazy modifying it and I've not stopped!
Warning: Synth-DIY is a narcotic and addictive habit. Do not attempt
these projects unless you have no girlfriend or wife (or want to drive the
one you have insane or away from you). Be prepared to explain the most
inane purchases of what your girlfriend or wife will tell you is "that
piece of junk". And also be prepared for their blank look when you test a
filter that you think sounds really cool...
May the leadtin god be with you always.
