Ok, here is the lowdown.
I reserved the same room at the Library for March 27th (that had better be
a Saturday) from 12pm to 5 pm.
Sorry Cynthia, March 13th was already taken :-(
Now, if there is some compelling reason, I can move it even further into
the future. There are a couple of Saturdays in April and May that are
still open. So, I will be posting a webpage this weekend giving directions
and what not as soon as I am sure we will really be having it on the 27th.
Now, somebody asked about traffic from San Francisco....Most likely, the
only traffic you will experience will be in the Bay Area. Once you get
past San Jose, it is pretty clear sailing. However, be aware of the fact
that there is a Highway Patrol Speed Trap between Gaviota and Goleta. The
Highway Patrol is generally out in force in that stretch, and they are
armed with Radar Guns, and if they are not busy, they will pull you over
for speeding. Generally, I find if I keep my speed under 75, I seem to be
pretty safe. Oh yes, Drive time is about 4.5 hours.
Now from the south, things are not quite so Rosey. There is a considerable
about of traffic coming north to Santa Barbara on Saturday. So be sure to
make allowances for that. There is usually a pretty good slowdown at
Milpas Street if nowhere else (if you are lucky enough to have only one
slowdown).
If anybody needs information on Motels, Shopping, Sightseeing, let me know.
