No idea about the MKS70, but with the ESQ-1 it would be either the battery
slowly phasing out *or* spikes coming from the PSU. That was an issue with
earlier ESQ-1 models where you indeed could garble up the battery-buffered
RAM by flicking the power switch a couple of times.

Later models just came with a simple filter installed, i.e. the power
cables were looped through a ferrite ring.

So you might want to check the power lines with a scope.
