Great info!

I think maybe instead of the relatively large number of diodes per op amp 
used
in the original article that I found, using several ideal diodes and adding 
more to taste
would be better. But a huge huge array of diodes could be super funky.

Heck I have my breadboard right here. Lemme see...

I think this would be a lot more nerve wracking for me if I wasn't just 
poking around
for some random coolness. :-)

But the ideal diode stuff looks like a more promising route.

Some questions:

How do germanium diodes compare?
Has anyone tried weird dioes, like PIN diodes.
Or how about Schottkey diodes? (which aren't really weird)
