Well, it sounds like the problem was Verizon. Needless to say I never
called "tech support" since they don't actually have that anymore. That
DEFINITELY fell into some sort of limbo a while back. All I get now is some
poor guy in India reading a script. Needless to say he can't tell me much.

No, they didn't end up in Verizon's spam filter--I checked that.
Fortunately thanks to the distraction of the holidays I didn't fall into
the dreaded "Synth-DIY withdrawal syndrome".
