Well, the modification is small and the fault isn't that large so you may
live with it for the time being anyway.

That's exactly how I intended it!

You might want to change the feedback resistor over the op-amp, since you will
not need the same amount of gain anymore. 22k is more like it, but then, that
is for you to decide.
