That's why you think an ESI-32 sounds fatter than a s/ware sampler. :) If 
you try VST3 you'll hear a big difference in sound quality.

The reason people are junking h/ware samplers now is that they no longer do 
essential things like support 5.1 surround. And when you can have unlimited 
memory, a maximum of 128MB (or whatever) is very limiting.

If you want fat, try using the FFT filter in Cool Edit (now Audition) to 
band-limit your samples to a few k. For some reason lack of top end gets 
translated into 'fat'.

You could also try decreasing the effective resolution to 12 or even 8 
bits. That always seems to help too.

One thing I do miss in softsamplers is Z-plane filtering. You can sort of 
simulate it with EQ automation, but it would be a lot more convenient to 
have it built right in.
