[sdiy] recreating front panel layouts

Hi,
I'm sorry if this question is offtopic as it doesn't relate to musical 
instruments in this case.
I'm wondering if there is a straightforward way to re create or repair a 
front panel for an old piece of equipment I now have.
the original panel was I think Letracet wording on a painted aluminium 
panel.
the problem I have is that the paint is now falling off !
any suggestions ?
