Dear List,
firstly Happy Boxing day !
I think the whole catagorisation of instruments can get more complex
that just the acoustic/electronic issue.
for example the Fender Rhodes piano uses a mechanical action to generate
the sounds, but has electronic pickups to amplify the sound.
so which category does it belong in ?
was it one of the Usa Patent sites that had a list of different musical
instruments divided into various categories,so that the new Patents
could be put in the correct category.
maybe this list could be the basis of deciding what instruments are which ?
regards Peter
