Well that's an interesting option I haven't thought about.
Honestly, there is not much difference between my 8 track recordings on
the analogue Fostex and my 2 track recordings on DAT. Or, if there is
a sound difference, it's dwarfed by the difference of capturing a "live in
the studio"
situation and step-by-step process.
But I'm ready to believe that a better analogue R2R will be a step forward
from
either.
I wish I had the console of Floyd's DSOTM recording, but I'm afraid I'm
stuck
with my Tascam 2516 until I really make big money. (;->) But even though
the basic signal path is quite plain, I have a lot of interesting add-ons
that (I hope!)
give my music a special sound nevertheless.
But generally: Would you say that something like a Layla 24 or a MAudio 1010
would give me worse sound quality than my (so far) mastering on DAT with
44kHz/16bit?
(Tascam DA-20 MkII)
