...BOB Pease, that is!
Oh yeah, and that other kind of peace, too.
I'm sending out my best wishes to everyone on the SDIY list. This list is
the absolute best, and it's all because of the people who are here. I don't
know how we do it, year after year, but this place is like a sacred, safe haven
for those of us who are weary of the juvenile/confrontational level of
discourse found on almost all other mailing lists. I fully expect 2005 to be another
good and fun year for SDIY.
Let us count our blessings, shall we? We get to rub elbows with some of the
best synthesizer designers and builders in the world, who, like most of us,
also happen to be very cool, generous, and good-spirited people. We get to
share our pool of knowledge and insights with each other, and we collectively help
to archive and advance the art. (As evidence, just look at the incredible
quality and functionality of the various DIY-related synths that are out there
now, such as MOTM, Wiard, Oakley, Blacet, etc, as well as some of the
incredible personal synth projects created by brilliant, talented, and ambitious list
members. Some of that stuff probably wouldn't have happened without this list
existing. I remember the very first few days that Paul Schreiber showed up
around here, full of questions, ideas, opinions, chutzpah, and an obvious itch
to do something BIG... he hadn't even thought up the MOTM idea yet, but we,
and the AH list, helped him form and shape that idea.) We also are most likely
the core group of people on this planet who will keep alive and pass on the
great tradition of DIY electronics, at least as it pertains to music and synths.
Simply put, we ROCK!
I want to also put out a special thank you to those who organized and
participated in the various SDIY get-togethers in the US and in the UK and Europe, as
well as to those who participated in the big yearly Analog gathering -- even
though I have not yet been able to personally attend one of them. I think
these events are very important, and I encourage more of this sort of thing
within our community. Thanks, guys!
Whether old timer you be, or newbie you be, the SDIY crew do be very, very,
very groo-vy. best wishes and thanks to all of you!
Sincerely,
Michael Bacich
