I can't see why anyone would put a UV led on anything, becasue (by
definition) a UV led
is invisible.
If people mean one of those bright blue or violet leds, fine, that isn't UV.

just to confuse things, some colored leds actually have a UV source inside,
and a
phosphor to make the required visible light. (some 'white' leds do this).

I suppose the Blaupunkt guys are really pissed that blue leds
didn't come out 50 years earlier...

As for electronics & UV damage, I remember someone complaining that the AR88
communications radio hurt his eyes.. seeing he had the covers off the
mercury arc
rectifier bulbs, I wasn't suprised.
