not going to get into a 'pic vs scenix vs avr' argument.
The scenix is fast, granted, but lacks a lot of the features of the AVR,
including 32 registers to play with, a CISC set rather than RISC, and
hardware peripherals, like UARTs , SPI interfaces and so on.
FWIW, the new Mega range of AVRs rock!, 16MIPs at 16Mhz.
