Might want to look at the Ubicom SX series chips.  Small ram and flash but
extremely fast. ( 75mips at 75mhz, and if you ask them nicely they spec some of
the SX28's at 100mhz ).  Great for DSP-like simple stuff, like 8 DCO's on a
20pin chip.
