I use normal transparencies or any glossie paper. I photocopy the pcb design over it and then do as Damion suggested (iron, etching...). I have heard that old photocopy machines are the best for this, cause they use a lot more toner than the new ones. For small boards I think it is an easy and good quality process. if after the ironing the result is not 100% good, you can use a permanent marker to fix posible missing traces.
