[sdiy] Siemens SM304A

Someone tells me that the Siemens SM304A keyboard encoder, as used in 
the Korg BX-3 and CX-3 has "some kind of manufacturing fault that 
eventually burns them up without any proper reason".
Personally, I've never heard of this before. Anybody here that has 
some experience with this or can confirm this?
