Aren't the originals 1702s? You can find a datasheet for the 1702A on 
Jed Margolin's page (among others I'm sure - Jed isn't a synth guy that 
I know of)

Good luck finding (a) any EPROMs used that are reprogrammable and (b) a 
programmer that will program them. Most likely if you are successful 
with (a) you will have to hand build a programmer.

Your best bet is to make a 1702 to 2716 (or 2732) socket adapter.
