MIDI is 31.25 kBaud. The external clock (1MHz in most cases) is

That's why I'm sometimes still using my old Mac with MagicMac (tha 
Atari emulator). The Atari OS allows direct access to the MIDI ports, 
and MagicMac translates this into access to a serial port.
