Probably the most complete text on vacuum tubes (valves) and anything 
related is Radiotron Designer's Handbook, Editor Langford-Smith, Published 
in Australia and distributed in the USA by RCA, long ago. It is available in 
used book stores and ebay. I will never part with mine.
