I see, and you are correct, explained that way it
really doesn't sound very useful.  Interesting in
theory; I never thought of the idea of overdriving
an amplifier to create harmonics and then selecting
a harmonic to use as, effectively, a frequency
multiplier.  You could use such a circuit to multiply
the frequency by any integer value.  However, all
other characteristics of the original signal are lost.

What did I want a frequency tripler for?  Not sure.
I thought it would be interesting to play with one
and see what uses/abuses I could put it to.
