My Frostwave Sonic Alienator (freestanding bitcrusher/
analogfilter/wavefolder) has an Alps encoder & a rign of leds.
And the parts (at least those parts) are cheap..
but, the leds are separate! and under control from the micro that in turn
picks up from the rotary encoder......
there are 24 programs, as you twirl the encoder, the leds light up
sequentially
around the circle, then the second time around they start to flash.
Works for me..
