[sdiy] rotary encoders

hi all
i know i can't afford them, but...
does anyone know of a source for rotary encoders
with led rings, similar to those used in mixers like
the behringer bcr2000 and the tascam us2400?
i'm building a control surface with mucho knobs,
and the prospect of soldering 8 led's x 32 knobs
makes me a little nauseous... cough....
