[sdiy] Questions about my 1st project

Hi list, 

Some of these question might be really basic but they are still puzzling me.

For my first electronic project, I¹ve chosen to build Marc Bareille¹s
MCV876, 4CV/6gate MIDI interface to hook up my SH-101 and future non-MIDI
instruments. The only difference is that I¹m going to build it in an
external enclosure, not modular style.

I got the PCB and PIC from him and I am now gathering the other components.
One of the components that I need is the DAC0831. While searching for this
part, I didn¹t find it as is but I found many variations, like DAC0831LCN,
DAC0831CCN, DAC0831LCD, etc. What is the 3 letter attachment, what does it
mean and is it compatible with the DAC0831?

By looking further, even though I could get the part, I noticed that it
isn¹t manufactured anymore. If I wanted to put a different but equivalent
DAC, how would I find an equivalent DAC and how would I know if it¹s
equivalent?

I also need the LF412CN op amp, but when I search for the part on Mouser, I
don¹t get any results for that part, instead I get the LF353N. Would that be
an equivalent op amp?

Anyways, Marc tells me that both components that I¹ve mentioned earlier are
classics and that I shouldn¹t have any trouble in finding them, he quotes
³Mouser has them². So why can¹t I get any of them to show up in Mouser¹s
database?

Any info is greatly appreciated.
