Guess I just have Ken Stone on the brain (been playing with the Wave Multiplier lately).

Ken uses the 4051 quite a bit in his designs - the Sequential Switch is a good app - you can rig it up with DC/switching jacks so that it can be configured both as a sequencer or a sequenced switch, or a mad combo of both.  4051 is also used in the Diatonic Converter.  I'm sure there's more.

4051 Mux/demux, used in Prophet 5, Source, DK-80 and others.
Haven't really noticed 4024's or BC184's anywhere.
