doepfer - less work... just wire up your buttons and pots, stick them in a
box and you are set to go...

midibox - a bit more work, you can get kits but still need to solder
everything to the boards and wire it etc...

    either way they will probably end up costing the same amount of money
for the same number of controls. the midibox has a bit more flexablitiy with
the programming setup -- could use it as a sequencer if you wanted! doepfer
has less work, but doesn't have the flexabiltiy -- just a controller box.
