[sdiy] Tape head collage (degausing)

At one place I worked, they had a steel machine bed that had become
magnetized, and was causing all sorts of problems, so they wound a large
coil into which they could insert it. It was a little unweildy, so they had
several guys hold the machine bed while they powered up the coil.

Unfortunately, not enought thought had gone into the process, because the
result was not a demagnetised machine bed, but rather a short range rail gun....

Unfortunately (fortunately?) I joined the company after the event, so missed
out on actually seeing the action!
