[sdiy] Using 8051 to build a synth

Hi Guys,
I was wondering if anyone could direct me to a source/schematic that uses a 8051
as a OSC and a VCA plus envelope generator?

I have heard some of the old Roland synth are built on an 8051 eg JX10 but can
not find any schematic to see how that it done.........

I have learnt the very basics to know how to genrate a pulse as a source/OSC, but
to be able to use that as a sine wave OSC I would need a bandpass filter to clean
out the harmonics and I guess the easiest way to be able to use that as a VCO I
will need a multiplier feeding DC to change the frequency, I was wondering is
there was a easier way bypass the bandpass filter method and just use the 8051 alone?

Also, I am very puzzled about using 8051 to create an VCA and a envelope
genrator. Can anyone shed a light on that?

I undersstand the basics of how a VCA and envelope generator works in analog
sense but to write the code for that in 8051, I have absolutely no idea!!! :(

Thanks a lot guys!!! :)
