Yes, a nice part.   Have you ever seen the Burr-Brown MSC1112?

indicate a maximum useful update rate of 100kHz, provided the 8051F120 
has the same DAC as the 8051F020. So it looks like that chip could be 
used as a self-contained wavetable DCO and control the input facilities 
(buttons, potentiometers, encoders), memory card, display and analog 
back-end at the same time...
