[sdiy] shallow rack enclosures?

I happen to sell an items that might fit your bill. It was designed with
MOTM people in mind, so it is only 10U high to fit into the SKB 12U pop up
rack. It is very simple. Maybe it will give you ideas if it does not suit
your needs.
See here:

Notice this is not a full enclosure. It is just a back that fastens to the
back side of the SKB rack rails. So, you still use the manufacturer rack
rails for attaching the modules to the front.

Also notice that if make something like this and use the full depth in the
top row of your SKB case, the case cannot open or close unless you make
allowance for the two tabs that control the SKB rack when closed. You cam
see the two holes in mine to allow the case to pass these tabs. While they
look like big holes, the tabs only cut 3/8" into the height at the back.
So, my hole is about 1/2 ". But, the top enters at such an angle, that 1/2
inch extends quite a way.

Subject: [sdiy] shallow rack enclosures?

hello all!

im in need of some shallow rack enclosures, 5 inches
deep or less - to fit inside one of those skb pop-up
mixer cases. the blacet rack is nice, but about 2
inches too deep to fit inside the skb. i just dont
want too many wires and power cables flying in back
when i pop the rack up from the case. any ideas?

ideally i want to get shaffer front panels, with a
shallow metal "pan" to protect the pcbs and mount
power distribution to. i might just have to shell out
to get one fabricated locally.. boo. i just really
like the idea of the suitcase synth that pops up.
