Just time to muter something...

My whole modular runs off batteries.  Were talking about 40 modules.  Fair, the stability of the vcos isn't what it could be, but
that's a compromise I'm willing to take in some situations.

12v SLA batteries are what i use.  The type for burglar alarm backups.  You can get them in all sorts of different sizes, but they
are larger then your 9v cells.  But they last longer too.

Talking of -ve rails.  Why not just use another battery?

I guess it depends if space, weight are your biggest enemies.  If not, then it'ld certainly open up the range of existing designs
available for you to use unmodified.
