Consider this - the variation of frequency is handled by a string of diodes
- each with a minimum of 0.6 volts dropped across it. Take into
consideration other voltage drops as well, and you will find you probably
don't have enough "headroom" to operate.
For 5V operation, check out the wasp filter.
