[sdiy] SpeakJet Module possibilities

This has already been done. Brice Hornback had one in his PSIM-1 module at AHMW 2004 this past spring. It was set up doing a random babble that was very vowel like. If I am not mistaken, you must drive it serially. Direct voltage control is not possible. It sure works well with the PSIM-1 (which gives you 4 programmable input voltages).

Brice can be found at:

His website with some speakjet info is at:

Has there been any serious thought into using a SpeakJet in module? Someone seems to mention them on this list every couple of weeks, but nobody seems to have taken the idea anywhere. I've looked at the manual and it seems like you could pretty much use the thing as a VCO with vowel sounds instead of waveforms, but I'm not too sure about that (I also don't know if it'd be linear or expo, though since I have no other modular equipment that isn't so big of a deal for me as many others on this list).
