Per-key aftertouch is kind of a side benefit, if you like aftertouch, of
doing this.  Not that poly aftertouch would be of much use in a Minimoog,
but I'm thinking more of when I convert the Syntauri keyboards...

Lets just say when I think "optical" I think Optigan. :-)

The only drawback I can see to magnetic is if there is key to key
interference and I think the magnets I have in mind are focused enough to
minimize this.
